Etihad Stadium's Patron Milestone
Monday 09 May 2011
Etihad Stadium celebrated a special milestone welcoming its 25 millionth patron through the turnstiles ahead of the St Kilda versus Carlton Round 7 AFL match.
Debra Sal of Glen Waverley was the lucky patron who walked through the stadium gates at the right time and will soon be heading to Europe, thanks to the stadium’s naming rights partner, Etihad Airways.
To commemorate the milestone, Etihad Airways has rewarded Ms Sal with two return flights to the European destination of his/her choice.
Etihad Stadium CEO Ian Collins AM said the milestone was a special occasion for the venue.
“We hosted our first event on March 9, 2000, and to have had 25 million patrons attend our events since is a huge achievement for the stadium,” Mr Collins said.
“We pride ourselves on our ability to host quality sport and entertainment events for thousands of patrons. Our retractable roof has always given us the ability to do things differently and we thank all patrons who show great support for the stadium.
“I’d personally like to thank our naming rights partner, Etihad Airways, for providing our 25 millionth patron with such a terrific prize. I wish the lucky recipient a great trip to Europe,” he said.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer, congratulated the stadium on reaching this significant milestone.
“We’re really proud of our partnership with Etihad Stadium, Melbourne’s premier sport and entertainment venue.
“It’s more than just a great way for Etihad Airways to become known around town; it’s a tangible show of our community spirit and support for the people of Victoria,” Mr Hogan said.
