NAB Cup Round 2 Schedule
Tuesday 24 Feb 2009
The AFL has reached agreement with Telstra Dome to play the second round Richmond-Collingwood NAB Cup match at Telstra Dome on Thursday, February 26, 2009.
AFL Commercial and Broadcasting Officer Gillon McLachlan said the AFL had ongoing discussions with Telstra Dome management today and, after securing agreement from the two clubs and Channel Ten that they were happy to move the game, resolved to play that match on the Thursday night to free the stadium for Melbourne Victory to host its grand final in the A League competition.
The game will now be played at 7.10pm on Thursday, February 26.
'We spoke to our clubs, who were able to change their arrangements to the Thursday night and also consulted with our broadcast partner in Channel Ten who were able to show the game on the Thursday night, ensuring that AFL fans would be able to watch the game on television if they couldn't get to the ground. We thank them for their support,'' Mr McLachlan said.
Mr McLachlan said the AFL was pleased to come up with a resolution that enabled fans to see Collingwood and Richmond in action for the first time in Melbourne this year and also allowed Melbourne Victory fans to be able to watch their team in the final.
