Retractable Seating – Socceroos v Oman, October 14

Football fans will feel even more a part of the action when the Qantas Socceroos play Oman in an AFC Asian Cup qualifier on Wednesday October 14, with Etihad Stadium announcing it will implement its retractable seating to create a rectangular seating configuration for the match.

The Level 1 seating bays on all four sides of the arena will be moved closer to the field of play to give fans the ultimate football viewing experience. The seating bays on the Eastern and Western sides of the arena will be moved in by 18 metres, while the bays on the Southern and Northern sides will move in 15 metres. At its closest point spectators will be within 10 metres of the field of play.

The stadium has implemented the rectangular seating configuration on a number of occasions for various sports and entertainment events but this is the first time it has been used for an FFA event.

Etihad Stadium CEO, Ian Collins AM, said the use of the retractable seating gives fans a great opportunity to get close to the on-field action.

“Using the retractable seating creates a fantastic atmosphere and gives our patrons the chance to see world class football from the best possible viewing position,” Mr Collins said.

Tickets for the match are available through the Ticketmaster network – www.ticketmaster.com.au or 136 100.
