Melbourne Victory v Queensland Roar
January 2, 2009

Despite the pre-match conjecture about the state of the turf at tonight’s Melbourne Victory v Queensland Roar Hyundai A-League fixture, Telstra Dome management maintains it provided a pitch that was fit and suitable for play.

The Stadium’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr Michael Green, said the 23,447 fans who attended, appeared to enjoy the high quality match between two of the A-League’s top teams.

“We are grateful that both coaches, Melbourne Victory’s Ernie Merrick and Queensland Roar’s, Frank Farina were comfortable to proceed with the match,” Mr Green said.

On a positive note, Mr Green said the stadium was pleased to announce that Mrs Jodie Sompel, of Ringwood, who attended tonight’s match with her husband and three children, became the millionth soccer patron to attend a match at Telstra Dome.
