The Melbourne Derby just got bigger!

August 6, 2014

Victory's women are set to take centre stage!

Etihad Stadium CEO Paul Sergeant announced this morning that Melbourne Victory's women's team will take on Canberra United prior to the big Melbourne derby between Victory and City at Etihad Stadium on October 25.

The game will not only be the first time Victory has played the newly branded Melbourne City but the first time fans are able to enjoy a double header of women's and men's football at the venue.

Paul Sergeant said the venue was thrilled to host both games and support women's football.

"Fans will be able to enjoy two quality football matches and given the stadium will be in rectangular mode, the atmosphere will be electric."

Last season's derby at Etihad Stadium attracted more than 45,000 fans, setting a new A-League home and away attendance record and we're tipping that this year's will be even bigger!

Tickets will be available soon through Ticketmaster.
